Rev. Jan welcomes same-sex couples! I would be deeply honored and delighted to marry you and make your dreams finally come true! Call me at 206.915.1077 or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org to start making the arrangements.
Washington State voters made history during the November 6th election by approving R74, which makes same-sex marriages legal!
To get your marriage license (information from King County):
There is a 3 day waiting period from the time you get your license until the day you marry. The license expires after 60 days.
For people out of state or for those who want to obtain their license via the mail, go to the county website (see my FAQ page), download the application, fill it out, and mail it in with a money order or cashier’s check for $64. Call the county office on the day you expect your mailed application to arrive and verify they have received it and are working on it. It will be processed the day they receive it and you can go to the county office three days later to pick up your license and get married. Pierce County will mail the paperwork to you so that you do not need to pick it up at the courthouse once you get in town.
If you live in Washington State, you can go to the county office and get your license while you wait. The cost is $64 and they take cash or a local check with local ID. No debit or credit cards are accepted.
A few pieces of information:
I welcome same-sex couples and have found these marriages to be full of joy, love, and commitment. It is my great pleasure and honor to officiate same-sex weddings.
Same-sex couples currently registered as domestic partners will have until June 30, 2014 to dissolve their partnerships or convert them to marriage. If they don’t, the state will convert the partnerships for them.
Domestic partnerships will continue for couples – gay or straight – where at least one partner is at least 62.”
